Just over four years ago I tried starting my own YouTube channel. I quickly discovered I had three things going against me. I picked a very obscure niche, I'm not good in front of a camera, and I had no clue that you could edit your video to make it more appealing. I learned that all of these obstacles can be overcome with education and practice. In the process of learning to edit, I found that how I put the bits and pieces together could change how an audience reacts. At this point it's kind of cliché to say that with great power comes great responsibility, but that's the thing about clichés, they're often grown from a seed of truth. I found that I like having the power to shape a scene in a way that evokes an emotion. I fell in love with the process of taking a random collection of bland clips and sculpting them into an emotion grabber.
